Adult Book & Author Breakfast: The lineup includes Stephen King, Owen King, Scott Kelly, Pete Souza, Jesmyn Ward, Claire Messud, and Whitney Cummings. That’s an impressive group, but personally I’m freaking out the most about seeing Stephen King and Scott Kelly. I mean, he’s Stephen freaking King, no explanations needed. And Scott Kelly makes my geeky heart just sing—he’s an actual astronaut, for goodness sake! Pete Souza was a late addition and I’m looking forward to him as well, since I follow him on Instagram and love seeing his photos from the Obama administration.
Meet the Adult Buzz Authors: A panel featuring the authors of this year’s adult buzz selections.
In-Booth Signing Session with Scott Kelly: Enough said. Hope I don’t make a fool of myself.
In-Booth Signing Session with Amy Tan: I’m going to try to make it to this. I’m currently reading The Joy Luck Club for the first time and enjoying it.
An Evening with Hillary Rodham Clinton: zomg words cannot contain my excitement. I’ve never seen her speak in person—fingers crossed that I’ll get a good seat! I’m listening to the audiobook of Hard Choices right now in anticipation.
Friday, June 2
Children’s Book & Author Breakfast: The lineup includes Savannah Guthrie, Isla Fisher, Jason Reynolds, Marieke Nijkamp, and Jennifer Weiner.
Librarians’ Book Buzz: Publishers will share the upcoming titles they’re excited about, with a focus on developing library collections.
Autographing Session with Christi Caldwell: Caldwell is a historical romance author. I’ve never read her before, but I’m hoping to pick up a copy of her book.
Librarian Shout ‘n Share: Another panel targeted toward librarians. I’m hoping for plenty of recommendations that I can take back to my customers.
We Need Diverse Books: Following Up After Fouling Up: Real Talk About Real Apologies: This is sure to be an engaging discussion.
Autographing Session with Sarah MacLean: This signing conflicts with the WNDB panel, so I likely won’t be able to make it, but I’ve got it on my schedule just in case.
Autographing Session with Eloisa James: Very excited about this. I watched the Love Between the Covers documentary a while back and loved her segment.

In addition to these scheduled events, I plan on wandering the show floor quite a bit to pick up galleys and swag throughout the day, as well as meet people and have interesting conversations.
In my next post, I’ll share some of the books I’m hoping to pick up at BookExpo.
