The historic hotel in Boonsboro has endured war and peace, the changing of hands, and even rumored hauntings. Now it's getting a major face-lift from the Montgomery brothers and their eccentric mother. As the architect in the family, Beckett's social life consists mostly of talking shop over pizza and beer. But there's another project he's got his eye on: the girl he's been waiting to kiss since he was sixteen.

After losing her husband and returning to her hometown, Clare Brewster soon settles into her life as the mother of three young sons while running the town's bookstore. Though busy and with little time for romance, Clare is drawn across the street by Beckett's transformation of the old inn, wanting to take a closer both the building and the man behind it.

With the grand opening inching closer, Beckett is happy to give Clare a private tour - one room at a time, in between blueprint meetings and kindergarten pickups. It's no first date, but these stolen moments are the beginning of something that could arouse the secret yearning that resides in Clare's independent heart - and open the door to the extraordinary adventure of what comes next...

It’s been ages since I’ve read a Nora Roberts novel, and if I’d forgotten why she’s so beloved, now I remember! The Next Always is a feel-good, emotional romance with a strong family subplot and a dash of the paranormal. It’s the first book in the Inn BoonsBoro trilogy and I can’t wait to read the next two books.

After becoming a young widow, Clare Brewster has moved back to Boonsboro to run the local bookshop and raise her three sons. Meanwhile, across the street, Beckett Montgomery is the architect on his family’s restoration of the old town inn. Beckett’s always carried a torch for Clare, ever since high school. It was never the right time for them before, but there’s something about this time that just feels right for them.

As the renovation of the inn progresses, so does Clare and Beckett’s romance. Clare and her three boys are a lot to take on, but Beckett thinks he just might be ready. As danger creeps in the shadows, their new love will be put to the test.

I have only good things to say about this book. Nora Roberts has a way of writing that’s so lyrical, yet feels so easy at the same time. I adore her characters and can’t wait to see the remaining two Montgomery brothers get their HEAs with Clare’s BFFs. I’ve got to admit, I felt pretty swoony by the end of the book.

Love this story–on to the next!
