When Paige Brennan moves into her new apartment she doesn't expect it to come with the neighbor from hell. His late night antics keep her up all hours, with every knock and bang made worse by their shared bedroom wall. When Paige finally bumps into the noisy night owl, she's determined to give him a piece of her mind, even if his broad shoulders and rogue grin leave her hot under the collar.

Stone Garrett is obsessed by the beauty next door, her smart mouth and dangerous curves driving him to distraction. She's way out of his league but he's hellbent on proving he can be everything she needs and more. Passions boil over after another late night exchange ends with Stone's hand down his pretty new neighbor's impossibly short sleep shorts. But does love exist beyond their shared bedroom wall? Or are they destined to only be an unforgettable one-night stand?

Under Construction by Aria Cole is book #1 in her Blue Collar Alphas series. Although the first part of the book is promising, it goes from zero to marriage and babies in approximately 55 pages. Sadly, that did not work for me.

Paige is a veterinarian who has recently moved into a new apartment. She soon learns how paper-thin the walls are when she hears her new neighbor’s sexual escapades most nights.

Stone, a construction worker, is the neighbor in question. When he and Paige run into each other one day, she confronts him on the rudeness of his noisy late-night shenanigans. But Stone quickly clears up the issue by telling Paige what she has actually been hearing.

I liked the initial misunderstanding and banter between Paige and Stone. Unfortunately, this is where the story goes pretty much off the rails with no character development or relationship development. For me, I needed more back story–how old are these people? What are their jobs like? What are their families like? We’ve got insta-lust, insta-love, surprise virgin, marriage, and babies–all in a very short novella, the bulk of which takes place in the time frame of one week.

Under Construction is a quick and dirty story. It was just too much for me, and yet, not enough at the same time, in terms of depth or emotion.
